Have you ever spent hours on a task only to feel like it was for nought? Or been overwhelmed by a job, leading to procrastination due to not knowing where to start? I'm sure we have all experienced this in the past. This is when having an organized plan can go far. Similarly, cleaning your house necessitates following certain steps and organizing tasks accordingly - something that will make all the difference!
A system to clean the house that works for you.
Achieving a spotless room or space in your home may seem like an insurmountable task, but you want it to remain that way until the next deep clean. Everyone is unique and requires tailored strategies when cleaning their house - think about what matters most to you and how much time it is available for this process.
It may sound counter-intuitive, yet tackling the most unpleasant tasks first will prove beneficial in the long run. Once you develop a routine for cleaning your house, it will become second nature and allow you to enter an uninterrupted flow state that streamlines your progress from one task to another. This way, you'll save time while avoiding having to ponder what needs doing next.
Guide on order to clean your house.
1) To ensure you maximize your time during cleaning, start with tasks that require soaking or those that can be done while completing other chores. For instance, load the dishwasher and get it running, spray oven cleaner in your oven for a deep clean later on down the line, begin washing a load of laundry or pour bleach into the toilet - all these actions either work asynchronously with other activities or make future jobs simpler when you reach them.
2) To avoid double-cleaning and unnecessary work, it's critical to start at the top while cleaning. Dust particles will naturally fall as you clean, which means that if you don't begin your process from the highest point in a room, they'll simply settle on surfaces that have already been tidied. Working with gravity instead of against it is key - dusting must be done first!
Similarly, it often seems easier to clean the top floor first and then the bottom floor. I'm unsure if it is psychological, but it seems easier to lug the vacuum cleaner and cleaning products upstairs before you're tired. Then you can work with gravity again when you bring everything downstairs.
3) Clean after tidying - You'll be able to clean each room much more efficiently if you don't have a bunch of clutter. So, the best plan for cleaning your house is to tidy it up and remove any mess before getting stuck into all the necessary cleaning tasks. Allocate some time to put things away before starting - this will make life easier for you! It's particularly important when tackling areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and floors because everything should have its place, which makes it easy to know where they go back afterwards! Keep in mind that "everything should have its own home".
4) Prioritize your home's 'wet areas' when cleaning. Bathrooms and kitchens are typically seen as 'wet areas', meaning they often take more time to clean than other parts of your house. After completing steps 1 and 3, gather all the dusting supplies, then head into these wet areas - giving them enough time for the cleaner solutions to do their job will make scrubbing easier. Get these done while you're still feeling energized so that you can tackle tougher tasks with ease!
5) Save the floors for last! This is likely the simplest part of your cleaning process, so why not leave it until you're nearly finished? Plus, by now, all dust should have settled to make mopping and vacuuming much easier. As always, when tidying up, work from top to bottom so that gravity naturally helps you along with this task too. Bonus: Vacuum before mopping - this way, any bigger pieces of dirt won't ruin your mop job! And don't forget a disinfectant in your water as well; keeping our home clean also means keeping it hygienic!
